Kit and Caboodle ——整套裝備

    !! In the 18th century, each soldier had to carry all his possessions and equipment in a “kit,” the use of  “kit” survives only in the full slang “kit and caboodle” today.

    在十八紀，每個士兵必須將所有個人物品和裝備帶在“kit”中，這“kit”的用法僅在今天的完整俚語“kit and caboodle”中保留下來。

    !! Boodle could have come from “buddle,” which in turn was probably Old English “bottle,” meaning “bunch or bundle.” Boodle also meant“a collection.” Boodle could also have come from the Dutch boedel, meaning “household goods and possessions.”

    Boodle可能來自buddle，而buddle可能是古英語bottle，意思是“紮或捆”。Boodle也有“收集物”的意思。Boodle也可能來自荷蘭語boedel，意思是“家庭用品和所有物”。

    !! Since “kit” and “caboodle” both mean virtually the same thing, the expression is a redundancy.

    由於“kit”和“caboodle”的含義相同，因此該表達方式是多餘的。

    >> They arrived with the whole kit and caboodle, ready for the Arctic trip.
